Safari Timings:

Pench National Park, a top jungle safari destination in India, offers unforgettable animal experiences. The Pench National Park, shared by Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh, offers safaris in the morning and evening, with schedules determined by the higher authorities of the park. While summers and winters have different time windows, sunset and sunrise also play a significant role in safari scheduling. The park opens 30 minutes before sunrise and closes 30 minutes before sundown. In addition, management adjusts timetables to accommodate VIP visits.

Winter is the best time to visit Pench National Park as the weather is pleasant and ideal for a wildlife safari. From November to February, the temperature gradually declines to 5℃.

Popular Wildlife Species

Tourism is attracted to the park by its terrifying Bengal Tigers. About 50 tigers live in the park's prey-rich woodlands. The forest herd comprises deer, rhesus macaques, langurs, gaurs, sambars, and bison. Around 210 bird species live in Pench National Park including peafowl, crow pheasant, red-vented bulbul, Indian roller, magpie robin, wagtail, myna, munia, and minivet.

The Pench Gates

Turia Gate:

Located near Madhya Pradesh-Maharashtra border, close to NH 7.
Features mixed vegetation, scrublands, small streams, and Acacia Catechu.
Baginnalla Route leads to Baginnalla waterhole and JodaMunara..
High chance of sighting Patdev Tigress with five cubs, spotted deers, jackals, and various bird species. i’m
Junewani Waterhole, the highest point in Pench is picturesque with reflections of dead trees.
Central area is dominated by the legendary Collarwali Tigress, a major visitor attraction.

Karmajheri Gate:

Predominantly Teak forest, previously used for timber.
Left road from the junction leads to Bodhanalla, with Bamboo plantations and sightings of Gaurs, Sambars, and occasionally barking deer.
Road to Sita Ghat runs parallel to Pench River, home to diverse bird species and potential tiger sightings and wild dogs.
Central park area, territory of the Collarwali Tigress, accessible from both Turia and Karmajheri Gates.

Khursapar Gate:

Located 12 km from Turia Gate.
Undulating terrain with sightings of Tiger, Chowsingha, Chinkara, and Gaurs.
Features natural water bodies, including Bakhari Lake.

Sillari Gate:

Main gate for Pench Maharashtra, located 40 km from Turia Gate.
Features a beautiful forest with dense Bamboo and Teak.
Offers views of the Totlah Doh Dam on the Pench River.
Known for sightings of Wild Dogs and Sloth Bears.

Jamtara Gate:

Third gate of the park with a limited area to explore.
Option to cross to other zones from Chendia Ghat when the river is dry.
Features Banyan Trees, Shindoori, and Camel foot climbers.
Known for Sloth Bear sightings.

Buffer Zones of Pench

Runi-Jhooni Trail:

3 km walking trail with the core zone on one side.
Sightings of animals, tracks, signs, and birdwatching..
Entry from Karmajheri Gate.

Rukhad Buffer:

Features Bamboo, Jamun, Arjun Trees, flowing streams, and butterflies.
Important tiger corridor between Pench and Kanha.
Sightings of three dominant male tigers: Kingfisher Male, Kuraigad Male, and Sambhaji Male.
Hosts tigresses: Masumnala Female, Sakata Female, and Daldalli Female.
Activities include tiger safari, cycling, and night safari.
Rukhad Gate is located 30 km from Pench Tree Lodge.

Khawasa Buffer:

Also known as the Wolf Sanctuary.
Offers night safari experiences.
Mostly open wooded forest.
Preferred by wolves, foxes, porcupines, and owls.
Easily accessible from the Turia Gate.

Travel Options

By Air

If you fly to Pench, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport in Nagpur and Jabalpur Airport are your best options. The former is 130 kilometers away and is simple to reach for domestic and international travelers, while the latter is 213 km away and only domestic flyers can utilize it. From the airport to Pench, taxis are convenient and pleasant.

By Train

The closest railway station to Pench is Seoni in Madhya Pradesh, 72 km away and well connected to major cities. The 205-km Jabalpur railway station is another way to reach Pench.

Deekshbhoomi

What can you expect?

Follow one of the four entry gates, which are exquisitely constructed with Rajasthani marble, to an immense two-story edifice where the mortal remains of Dr. Ambedkar are kept preserved. The best time to visit Deekshabhoomi is in October when many people assemble to commemorate Mass Conversion Ceremony Day. There are bookstalls beside the main entrance and you can visit the revered Bodhi tree located on the monument's eastern side.

Lata Mangeshkar Garden
